About the Job The Chief of Staff, Research and Development (R&D) is a strategic partner and thought leader for the Research and Development function that leads the coordination and implementation of scientific innovation and diagnostic development plans. This position is responsible for improving current processes and coordinating organizational procedures to optimize communication, workflows, resource management, efficiency and productivity. As a member of R&D Leadership Team the incumbent collaborates with the Chief Scientific Officer and leaders across FMI in supporting corporate processes, program management, and initiative implementation with stakeholders across FMI. Key Responsibilities o Add structure and process for better communication within R&D as well as across other stakeholder teams. Ensure activities are running efficiently within and across teams. o Design and execute upon initiatives for cohesion, improved alignment and engagement among teams and departments through synthesis of information and data across the organization. o Set the agendas of R&D Leadership Team (LT) meetings, of related team meetings, and ensure successful preparation and organization of these meetings. o Support the Chief Scientific Officer (CSO) in preparing annual budget planning for the R&D organization. o Support CSO in providing quarterly business reports to all employees. o Function as the point person for the CSO as it relates to managing the annual operating cycle and measuring progress against strategic initiatives. o Serve as liaison between all R&D Team functional leaders to develop unified road maps and joint initiatives for overall step changes in productivity and reliability. Partner with Roche and other FMI functions to prioritize these initiatives and goals. o Build and develop relationships with all employees for increased efficiency and effective responsiveness, and help to define new operational strategies, working with CSO and executives on special projects pertinent to operations. o Serve as a subject matter expert, handling inquiries and developing action plans to address them, and assisting with the preparation and dissemination of communications. o In partnership with CSO, develop dashboards and key performance indicators providing guidance to the R&D Team on strategy and delivery. o Drive business priorities from start to finish. o Execute special projects or initiatives on behalf of the CSO. o Occasionally travel both domestically and internationally. o Other duties as assigned. Qualifications Basic Qualifications o Bachelor's Degree o 10
years of experience of professional experience in the life sciences industry o 2
years of experience in management Preferred Qualifications o Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Biology or a similar life science o Advanced degree, such as a Master of Business Administration degree o Management experience in a biotechnology or laboratory environment, with a focus on process improvement and interdepartmental collaboration o Experience with working in highly cross-functional teams o Demonstrated experience in identifying and implementing operational improvements in general, as well as with related software development o Experience leading and managing strategic initiatives o Experience developing R&D organization culture and collaboration with key partners o Excellent decision-making, communication and collaboration skills with proven cross-functional and multi-level relationship building skills o Expert experience in leading, mentoring, and motivating teams o Experience managing operating budgets with varying degrees of complexity o Outstanding communication and presentation skills, including developing and delivering presentations to senior management and large groups o Excellent organization and attention to detail o An entrepreneurial mindset, with a bias for action and ability to deal with extreme ambiguity and rapidly changing environments o Deep understanding of business strategy and metrics o Superior communication skills with a demonstrated ability to navigate a complex organization and generate buy-in for ideas and plans o Understanding of HIPAA and the importance of patient data privacy o Commitment to reflect FMI's values:

Salary Range:
$250K -- $500K+
Minimum Qualification
