Associate Finance Director

Job-Specific Responsibilities Conduct financial and operational analysis to support planning efforts that span a wide range of initiatives including integrated capital planning process and school/unit based long-range financial planning Analyze the consolidated budget, capital plans, multi-year financial plans, etc.; monitor current year budget to actual results. Responsibilities:
In addition to the above duties, HKS's Office of Financial Services supports and facilitates decision-making at the highest levels in key areas of financial management and strategic planning. This position will conduct objective analysis of the financial performance of certain departments and centers with in HKS and developing an in-depth understanding of the financial structure. Additionally, perform other ad-hoc projects to support the policies and decision-making of the Director of Budget and Financial Planning, Controller and Chief Financial Offer. Typical Core Duties Lead financial operations that may include payroll, accounting, accounts payable/receivable, procurement, research administration etc. Function as a subject matter expert or project lead on financial operations Lead the development of complex annual budget(s), including specialized financial analysis and modeling Verify budgets, identify, analyze and resolve complex discrepancies Develop new and advanced financial analysis techniques and methods Provide specialized research and advanced solutions to financial operations challenges Act as resource and information source regarding financial policy development Advise on developing financial plans and recommend implementation processes and methods Provide advanced financial training and reporting to university audiences Provide staff mentoring and training Ensure financial compliance with University policies and procedures and applicable legal rules and regulations Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience required Minimum of 8 years' relevant work experience Additional Qualifications and Skills MBA or Master's degree in relevant field Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, advanced excel skills Knowledge of advanced financial administration principles Demonstrated experience with financial systems and data query tools Optional
Qualifications:
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple projects on deadline. Demonstrated experience in desktop computing systems, including spreadsheets, word-processing and databases. Requires demonstrated knowledge/understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Excellent oral and written communications. Excellent accounting, organizational, and analytical skills. Ability to work independently and in a team environment. $92,000 - $160,400 Note:
Starting salaries typically fall in the lower half of the salary range; however, they are ultimately determined by the scope of the position, the candidate's relevant experience, and internal equity. Harvard offers a generous benefits package including:
