Sarepta has become the partner of choice for rare disease companies globally and we intend to accelerate our BD activity going forward.
The AD searches for and assesses growth opportunities, partners with technical evaluation and diligence teams, and leads transaction process.
This AD reports to and works closely with the Head of Business Development and Strategic Alliances and will work directly with the Executive Committee on a wide variety of high-visibility initiatives.
Primary Responsibilities Include:
Assist in the development of Sarepta's long-term strategic direction including analysis of therapeutic areas beyond Sarepta's current focus; proactively source appropriate opportunities for Sarepta's consideration from academic, literature, trade publications, scientific and industry meetings.
Screen and analyze potential collaboration, license and acquisition opportunities from a scientific, medical, regulatory, commercial, and strategic perspective.
Translate complex scientific mechanisms and clinical data to a level digestible by non-scientific executive leadership.
Lead diligence team evaluations of therapeutic drug programs from pre-clinical through clinical stages across the relevant assessment areas:
proposed clinical benefit, mechanism, non-clinical data, regulatory strategy, clinical development path, CMC, intellectual property, regulatory and commercial opportunity.
Serve as a liaison to the Research and Development teams, collaborate closely with them in prioritizing internal and external portfolio programs.
Work effectively with legal, finance,scientific, development and commercial teams and make business development proposals to senior leadership.
As appropriate, pursue and support negotiations and execute collaboration, license and acquisition agreements.
Provide project management oversight to track status of proposed targets, current transactions as well as potential deals; partner with finance and BD leadership to deliver, P&L,DCF and pro-forma analyses.
Additionally support projection of the potential ROI for deals under consideration, and create executive presentations.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Skills Requirements:
BS/BA required, PhD or MD strongly preferred with at least 7 years of relevant experience, preferably in consulting or search and evaluation within the pharmaceutical/biotechnology industry.
Physicians with clinical experience will be highly valued.
An understanding of drug discovery and development process.
Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, ability to prioritize and meet deadlines across multiple transactions.
Leadership in managing diligence and negotiation processes.
Ability and interest in contributing across the organization; flexibility to accept and contribute to critical projects outside of business development.
Strong communication and presentation skills across all levels of the organization.
Ability to explain complex strategic initiatives and advanced scientific/medical challenges across a broad audience.
Desire to excel and be a part of a high performing team.
Some travel required.

The targeted salary range for this position is $156,000 - $195,000 per year.
