This position will play a key role in trait discovery, gene activity and protein characterization.
As a Senior Scientist Assay Development, you will work with science project & platform teams to accelerate identification and validation of genes and gene combinations to fuel our product design pipeline.
You will also develop assays to support characterization and continuous improvement of novel genome editing tools.
You will contribute to the development of scientists and research associates within Inari's science organization.
As Senior Scientist, R&D Assay Development you will bring deep expertise in translating biological questions into robust, medium/high-throughput, low-cost and accurate assay workflows to support hypothesis generation and diagnostic needs.
Assay systems encompass reporter detection, molecular diagnostics using RNA and/or DNA, protein:
protein interactions and cell physiological readouts.
The candidate will embrace innovative thinking and push boundaries to develop assays that test genome editing hypotheses and enable accelerated development of crops with improved performance driven by Inari's gene editing technology toolbox.
You will also be responsible for building the team to carry out this work.

About the Role Lead the development of fit for purpose assay capability that enables Inari to discover, engineer and optimize next generation cropsLead/contribute to scientific teams that characterize and evolve genome editing tools at InariUse expertise to bring new and, continuously improve established assay capability, emphasizing robustness and throughput to deliver accurate and timely resultsSupport interactions with third party collaborators on projects - work with our External Innovation group to identify opportunities to expand our assay capabilitiesConnect with the different Science Teams to provide scientific guidance and leadership across projectsCollaborate with the Intellectual Property (IP) team to identify assay development and execution opportunities for Inari.
Closely follow/analyze industry trends, emerging IP and scientific advancements to recommend new assay strategies for Science projects.
Collaborate across the organization with colleagues from Product Development, Regulatory, Legal and IPProvide scientific expertise and novel solutions to complex problems by contributing to innovation initiatives across the companyContribute to the development & training of Science Teams with diverse skills and experience to address technical initiativesClearly communicate scientific principles and project results to Inari colleagues and to key stakeholders, including Leadership Teams and the Science Strategy BoardRepresent Inari to the international Science communityYou Bring PhD or equivalent experience in plant biotechnology, chemistry, physics, molecular biology, or a closely related field10
