Life Sciences Electron Microscopy Research Scientist

Job DescriptionLIFE SCIENCES ELECTRON MICROSCOPY RESEARCH SCIENTIST, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to join an interdisciplinary team at the Nanotechnology Materials Core, dedicated to offering innovative, biology-focused electron microscopy (EM) imaging capabilities to the research community, including CLEM and other correlative modalities.
Will be responsible for developing new protocols and methodologies for acquisition and analysis of EM imaging data, with a strong focus on sample preparation.
Specific responsibilities will include the conception, design, set-up, and execution of imaging experiments; providing consultation, training, and support for electron microscopes, related instruments, and other imaging platforms; and extensive collaborative interactions with faculty and postdoctoral and graduate trainees for experimental design, training, execution of experiments, data analysis, and innovation of new methodologies.
Other responsibilities may include collecting and analyzing data from other imaging modalities, performing instrument maintenance and troubleshooting, and other duties as needed.
Job RequirementsREQUIRED:
Ph.
D.
in biology or related discipline; seven years' experience in innovative biological EM sample preparation and imaging, including TEM, SEM, FIB, ultramicrotome, cryo-ultramicrotome, high pressure freezing, freeze fracture, freeze substitution, resin embedding, and immuno-labeling; familiarity with fluorescence microscopy and CLEM workflows; self-motivation; excellent organizational, troubleshooting, analytical, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills; and willingness to engage in learning and innovating new methodologies.
