Team Introduction:
The Equipment Services team within the Lab Operations department at Ginkgo is responsible for reactive and proactive support across Ginkgo's automation and equipment stack.
In spec, operational equipment is critical to ensuring effective execution of experiments required to deliver on Ginkgo's programs, and the Equipment Services team is directly responsible for ensuring maximum uptime of our foundry equipment and automation instruments.
Job Description:
Ginkgo Bioworks is seeking a highly motivated and experienced individual to join our Lab Operations department as a Senior Manager for the Equipment Services team.
As the Senior Manager, you will be responsible for leading and overseeing the Equipment Services team, ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of Ginkgo's automation and equipment stack.
Your primary focus will be on maximizing uptime, driving continuous improvement initiatives within the team and coordinating with stakeholders and vendors.
Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Management:
Provide strong leadership and mentorship to the Equipment Services supervisors and team members.
Set clear expectations, assign responsibilities, and develop performance goals for team members.
Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide constructive feedback, and support professional development opportunities for team members.
Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure equipment uptime and performance.
Prioritize and oversee the implementation of continuous improvement initiatives based on ticket data, customer feedback and company priorities.
Build a safety culture, provide appropriate safety training, and ensure that team members adhere to safety regulations and guidelines.
Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that promotes employee engagement and teamwork.
Vendor Relationship Management:
Manage relationships with external vendors and service providers responsible for repairs and preventative maintenance of Ginkgo's equipment.
Oversee escalations, issue resolution, and communication with vendors, ensuring timely and satisfactory resolution of equipment-related matters.
Collaborate with procurement and sourcing teams to identify and select qualified vendors, negotiate contracts, establish service level agreements and monitor overall effectiveness of the vendor network Stakeholder Management:
Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to understand their equipment service needs and negotiate Service Level Agreements.
Represent the Equipment Services team in cross-functional meetings and projects, providing input and insights on equipment service-related matters.
