We're seeking a full-time Research Analyst to support a team of researchers on the Population Health team.
Population Health works on health- and health-care-related research and program evaluation projects.
You'll have the opportunity to analyze big data to create key indicators in the health care field, and work with a variety of data sources such as cancer registry, vital statistics (birth and death registry), and population statistics from the Census Bureau, the CDC, and other federal and state agencies.
You will be responsible for reviewing data for outliers and inconsistencies, contextualize information through literature searches and reference to industry standards, and help create dynamic data visualizations and reports.
Interest in the health care and population health field and working with insurance claims data is essential.

Who We're Looking For We're looking for someone with a passion for data who wants to be part of an innovative, expanding team within our organization.
The ideal candidate is someone who communicates well both in person and in writing; manages work across projects with multiple timelines; develops and maintains positive relationships with clients, consultants, collaborators, co-workers, and funders; and listens and contributes to a sharing of diverse perspectives.
Responsibilities Implement complex health care claim analysis to create actionable analytic output that meets statewide- and community-level health care reporting needs Health care data reporting - including designing data visualizations to highlight trends, increase transparency, explore social determinants of health (SDOH), and identify disparities in quality of care and cost in the health care system Evaluate and clearly communicate problem-solving and implementation solutions related to analyzing and reporting health care claims data Identify and track data quality issues and maintain version control of analytic deliverables Build expertise in standard methodologies for nationally endorsed health care performance measures and indicators Build expertise on selected topics, such as identification of primary care services, emergency room visits, or hospital readmissions in claims data or alternative payment models Minimum Qualifications BA/BS in a business, public health, economics, or social science discipline with an emphasis in statistics and three years of professional experience in quantitative research Experience analyzing commercial, Medicare, and/or Medicaid medical, dental, and/or behavioral health claims datasets Intermediate to advanced SQL programming skills, plus intermediate to advanced programming skills in one of the following statistical software:
R, Stata, SAS, SPSS or similar Experience using Business Intelligence tools such as Tableau or Microsoft Power BI Attention to detail and strong commitment to high-quality work Analytical with strong problem-solving ability Ability to work independently and as part of a team Ability to execute complex analytic tasks and convey technical issues/problems succinctly and efficiently to the rest of the team Ability to work across projects with multiple timelines and clarify ambiguities as they arise Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint Desired Qualifications Masters in a business, public health, economics, or social science discipline with an emphasis in statistics and at least one year of professional experience in quantitative research (master's degree may substitute for two years of experience listed under minimum qualifications) Intermediate to advanced expertise with data visualization software such as Tableau, Microsoft Power BI or another similar program Hours Full-time - 40 hours This position allows flexibility in core hours.
Location This is a remote position with an option to work from our Cambridge, MA, office, which is accessible by public transportation.
HSRI does not permit remote work arrangements based in California, the U.
S.
Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and outside the United States.
