Job Description
TECHNICAL ASSISTANT, Koch Institute for Integrative Cancer Research, to participate in nucleic acid delivery and drug delivery in the laboratory of Professor Daniel G. Anderson. Will support research focused on the interface of materials science, biotechnology, and functional genomics. Responsibilities will include animal breeding and colony management, conducting studies in mice to determine the effects of different drug delivery systems and routine tests following established procedures which may include molecular and chemistry assays; researching and collecting basic study data through monitoring devices and maintaining daily logs/basic records of methodologies and test results; performing literature searches and library investigations as they relate to the research and/or as assigned; and handling other duties as assigned. May summarize data and interpret results using descriptive statistics and basic hypothesis testing, write standard operating procedures for documentation, and make informal presentations of these procedures to others in the lab.
Job Requirements
REQUIRED: a B.S. degree in biology, biochemistry, life science, chemistry, or related scientific field; basic lab experience; willingness to work with
animals
(experience working with animals preferred); strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to work as part of a team; comfort summarizing and reporting results to researchers; training in hands-on equipment maintenance; demonstrated commitment to exceeding quality standards, providing exceptional
services
, and producing accurate and high-quality work; strong organizational skills; meticulous attention to detail; and practiced documentation skills. Must be aware of basic safety issues and able to follow safety procedures and maintain a safe work environment. Job #10956
