About the Job
As a Program Manager in Akamai's Network Planning Team, you will be planning and managing complex projects across a global organization. In that role, you will be responsible for negotiating the project requirements, creating an actionable plan around those requirements, and facilitating completion of the project. Projects range from optimizing the costs in the network, expanding the capacity of the network, adding new functionality to the network, and ensuring the network keeps up with traffic growth.
About the Team
The Networks team is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining Akamai's network. In that role, the Networks team is responsible for managing and maintaining business relationships with internet service providers and datacenter operators around the world. The team works closely with both new and existing vendors. The Network Planning team is responsible for planning and project managing projects across the Networks team.
Translate high level objectives and requirements into detailed project and execution plans
Facilitate communication among team members from cross-functional groups to ensure that all stakeholders on a project have a common understanding around goals, objectives, and success criteria.
Drive and manage projects to completion in a timely manner.
Continually analyze and review data about the network to make sure it is optimized, efficient, and cost effective. Define metrics to help measure those goals. Use this information to inform plans.
Understand, measure, and assess the way we construct our network from beginning to end. Help define and implement processes and procedures that allow for continual scalable improvements.
Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in a technical or management discipline.
Minimum of 5 years' experience working in any of the following industries: telecom services; internet services; datacenter services; development of networking or telecom equipment.
Minimum of 3 years' experience in a technical project management or an engineering management role.

Technical agility
Strong analytical skills and able to analyze large amounts of data
Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly.
Experience with Linux command line and SQL are desirable.
Creativity and tolerance for uncertainty
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment both as an individual contributor and in taking responsibility for driving results across a cross-functional team
