The Senior Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for leading all mechanical and electromechanical systems design including upgrading existing fuel cell test stations and designing and developing next generation fully automated test stations. This position has tremendous growth potential. Over time the role could change and migrate more towards designing a fully integrated fuel cell power generator. This is a highly visible role and requires a high degree of creativity, application of sound engineering principles, attention to details, and excellent problem solving skills. Job Description:
Design and build highly sophisticated mechanical and electromechanical systems with remote monitoring capabilities.
Structural design and analysis, thermal and heat transfer analysis.
Develop P&ID for fuel cell test stations. Develop functional requirement documents for the test stations.
Design and build test fixtures and associated control systems to perform fuel cell testing at high temperature.
Design and build highly reliable test stations that meets all functional requirements for testing solid oxide fuel cells.
Conduct fuel cell testing, generate clean and statistically meaningful data to enable design iterations and product enhancement. Document findings in thorough test reports.
Lead mechanical system design and package design for various sub-systems and prototypes.
Qualifications
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
Must be a highly creative individual with 7
years of hands-on experience designing and building mechanical and electromechanical systems.
Expert knowledge and experience with various instrumentation including thermocouples, mass flow controllers, pressure sensors, current and voltage sensors, etc.
3D CAD knowledge and experience.
Ability to lead Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) and root cause analysis activities.
A high energy individual with proven track record, self-driven and operates with minimal management oversight. Capable of taking a concept and quickly turning that into a design embodiment.
Strong technical communication skills, both verbal and written.
Knowledge of fuel cells, preferably Solid Oxide Fuel Cells (SOFC), is highly desirable.
Expert knowledge of process control and various types of controllers, embedded systems, data acquisition systems, etc. is highly desirable.
Knowledge of LabView or Visual Basic is a plus.
