Maintenance Mechanic I.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities 1.Performs a variety of maintenance and repair tasks at or above the journeyman level. 2.Displays some understanding of mechanical, electrical, architectural, and plumbing drawings. 3.Performs general maintenance, plant maintenance, painting, patching, carpentry, flooring repairs, electrical, and plumbing that does not require a license; and grounds work including mowing lawns and snow removal. 4.Closes out assigned work orders at the end of the day. 5.Cleans assigned mechanical rooms monthly. 6.Checks assigned corridors and common areas weekly for problems and corrects problem or submits work order. 7.Provides on-call coverage on a 24-hour-per-day basis. 8.Performs snow removal as needed. 9.Performs other duties as needed.
Requirements:
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED 1. High school diploma. 2. Three years of general maintenance experience. 3. Hold a valid Massachusetts Drivers License. 3. Ability to work well with others. WORKING CONDITIONS 1. Exposure to typical plumbing and mechanical/electrical room elements including heat, steam, hot water, oil and grease etc., with one usually present to the extent of being disagreeable. 2. Exposure to fumes and chemicals.
